Shakaila Gardiner-Dunn is a smart and athletic small forward who has come through the Northern Territory, whilst also linking up with South Adelaide in the SANFL Women's. In what was a breakout season for the top-ager, Gardiner-Dunn earned a call-up to the AFLW Academy squad's second match when injuries occurred, and held her own well.

She went on to represent the Allies as well across all four games at the national championships, and alongside three matches for the Northern Territory had plenty of experience. Gardiner-Dunn's defensive pressure is outstanding and underpins her game, and alongside her speed and agility, makes her a nightmare for opposition defenders to guide. Having already competed at senior SANFLW level, Gardiner-Dunn is also used to playing against much bigger bodies.

Naturally areas such as her strength and endurance have work, as well as being able to compete more in the air, but at 157cm, Gardiner-Dunn does her most damage at ground level with some outstanding forward traits and nice upside for the future. One of a few Northern Territory talents who have shown promise to make the step up.
