Tallis McMillan burst onto the footballing pathway this year, impressing in his time with the Giants Academy and Murray Bushrangers. Across what was his first season at the level, the athletic tall forward did enough to earn Allies selection and was duly invited to the state draft combine, signalling interest from several AFL clubs.

A promising early-season stint with the Giants saw McMillan showcase dual threat of speed and aerial nous in the front half. He has the capacity to play taller than his 191cm standing, especially when extending for overhead marks or plucking the ball out of packs. His mobility is just as damaging, able to work up the ground and charge back towards goal with ball in hand.

Most importantly, McMillan impacts the scoreboard and tends to kick goals in bunches. Two of his three Coates Talent League games for GWS yielded four majors. Linking up with Murray for further exposure outlined how the 18-year-old can work on his endurance and consistency. The two traits go hand-in-hand, with McMillan currently a low-possession, high-impact type.
