PROFILE:

Taya Strickland is a high-upside forward with some nice athletic traits that catch the eye. Having moved from Esperance down to Perth in order to take her football to another level, Strickland had an impressive season for Subiaco, earning six games in the League side, while kicking a couple of bags for the Lions at Rogers Cup level.

Her athleticism and marking stand out as traits in her game, with Strickland's ability to go into the ruck - albeit at just 174cm - another tick for her profile. When inside 50, she has some natural football smarts, and while adjusting to higher levels might take some time, has shown she has the tricks to do a lot of impressive things.

Strickland is still quite raw and the production and consistency element of her game is not quite there yet. She has shown her talent in patches, and looked too good at Rogers Cup level at times, but still flashed in and out at WAFLW and AFLW Under 18s level. One who could be a great long-term investment with the right development.
