Few prospects possess the same level of nous as Thomas McGuane, who simply knows where to find the footy. The hard-running utility is tied to Collingwood thanks to father Mick's 152 games at the club, although the Magpies have opted against utilising their priority access via the National Draft. While he might end up in black and white as a rookie, other clubs are now in the hunt.

McGuane junior has turned in two sensational Coates Talent League campaigns with Western Jets. He debuted alongside Thomas Burton in 2023, going on to top the competition's disposal charts as a bottom-ager last year. Better yet, he boosted his average up to 27.9 per game in 2025, proving prolific across several roles and even stepping up for three VFL games.

Such high volume is credit to McGuane's ability to run both hard and smart patterns. He is clean at the contest but just as influential on the outside, able to link up by hands or drive forward by foot. Whether his future lies on-ball or around the square remains to be seen, with McGuane likely to have to work on his power, strength and speed to thrive allow his skills to shine.
