One of the most well-travelled prospects in the country this year is Thomas Phillips. A West Australian native originally zoned to East Fremantle, he made the move to Victoria in 2023 where he boards at Scotch College. Now tied to the Oakleigh Chargers, he still represented WA at this year's National Championships and is a Fremantle Next Generation Academy member.

Phillips established himself out on the wing, though has a penchant for carving through tight spots. He's a smooth mover who produces moments of power, able to baulk and side-step his way out of trouble. That movement is what helps Phillips make poised decisions, particularly when it comes to finding space and hitting passes on his favoured left foot.

With relatively limited exposure, Phillips hasn't produced the most consistent or high-volume sample of form. He shows glimpses of his talent and clearly has some upside, which is why recruiters put him under the spotlight with a state combine invitation. Strength is perhaps another area for growth, with the rangy prospect offering outside-leaning traits as it stands.
