SUMMARY: Tobin Cox is an overage player for 2018 who participated for South Australian in the National Under 18 Championships on the back of an injury-interrupted 2017 season. Cox managed to show his talent consistently for Glenelg at Reserves level and also made his SANFL League debut. Cox is a tough contested ball player with a strong overhead and very efficient and clean around goal. He managed 22 goals from his 14 games and looks like a mid-sized forward as his best position. He certainly won his share of clearances this year playing in the midfield, and despite his pace being less than others, he makes up in ball winning ability and use from the contest. He has demonstrated a willingness to work forward and hit the scoreboard. At SANFL level playing around the contest meant his tackle pressure was good, but when up forward his defensive pressure can improve. It has been positive to see Tobin string a larger amount of games together over the year and his consistency was rewarded with a League call up, and he was up to the level making solid contributions in each game. Only having played one game during South Australia’s National Under 18 Championships campaign meant he did not get to show all his talents over a block in front of recruiters, but as an overager has been on the radar for the past two years.
