Despite injury impacting his year, South Fremantle's Tom Bell remains on the draft radar. The key defender held his own at WAFL Colts level and was in top form before his season ended in Round 20 with what looked to be a leg injury. That came after an ankle concern scuppered his preparation for the National Championships.
Bell still managed to break through for a single appearance in state colours, coming into the side after Darcy Petersen went down in game three. His aerial ability is quite strong, as shown by an average 5.2 marks per his 12 WAFL Colts appearances. Arguably his best performance yielded 27 disposals and 11 grabs against East Fremantle in Round 18.
Bell's ability to read the ball in flight and peel off to attack it makes him a capable interceptor. He is also capable of holding his own one-on-one and is hardly beaten in the air. In terms of improvement areas, he can be a touch mistake prone in his ball use by foot, though often distributes the ball that way. Durability will be a slight concern given his injury setbacks this year.
