A state combine invitee in the mature-age category, Tom Emmett is hoping it's a case of third time's a charm having been overlooked at the previous two AFL intakes. The well developed Sturt forward established himself at League level this year after four early-season games in the Reserves where he found his feet. He went goalless in his first five top flight outings, but ended his campaign strongly with 15 goals in his last seven appearances. including a trio of three-goal hauls.

Emmett is a strong unit who attacks the ball hard in the air, perhaps playing above his 186cm standing. Presenting more so as a tall, he averaged over three marks from his 9.7 disposals for Sturt, using his frame to advantage when jostling defenders. In his impressive late-season run, he even got to prove himself against AFL-level opposition with three majors from 14 disposals and five marks against the Adelaide Crows' SANFL outfit.

Also a capable athlete, Emmett finished top in his state for the agility test and clocked up an impressive 6:33 2km time - good enough for fourth place. In term of factors working against him, Emmett is perhaps a mid-sized prospect who plays tall, and his production levels could do with a lift. There remains nice upside in him though, as a steady goalkicker.
