A solid size defender at 192cm, McGinness was a late inclusion to the Tasmanian State Combine following a consistent year for the Tasmania Devils. Also having an impressive match against Queensland in at the Under 19 Championships, McGinness has been a gradual developer. He plays the intercept role well at half-back, able to read the play and pull down marks. Averaged 17.1 disposals and 4.6 marks in the NAB League. He is efficient with ball-in-hand, and whilst he could impact more at ground level and add more strings to his bow in terms of versatility, McGinniss has some nice developmental traits for the future.
