Ruck Forward

#23

Will Elliott

height: 200cm

weight: 90kg

D.O.B: 11-06-2004

Leagues: AFL U18 Championships, Coates Talent League Boys

One of many players who earned a state combine invite despite limited gametime in 2022, Will Elliott looms as a value key position prospect. The Oakleigh Chargers product was named captain in preseason but only managed two NAB League appearances before being sidelined by a knee injury related to his growth. At 202cm and counting, the 18-year-old is already taller than his test cricket playing father, Matthew.

Elliott prides himself on his mobility for a player his size, and ability to contest the ball aerially. While he is continuing to develop his physicality and forward craft, he tends to bring the ball to ground at a minimum if unable to clunk the contested mark. Given he has played so little football, his small showings of fluency as a developable ruck-forward put him in good stead.

In terms of improvement areas, Elliott was unable to squeeze out a massive amount in terms of production during the two games he played this season. He made his NAB League debut last year and turned out for Vic Metro at Under 17 level, but that lack of exposure means clubs will have to use their crystal ball a bit when deliberating his potential selection. Offering good character, that and his sporting pedigree are a couple of positives.
