Stellar performances earn Team of the Week honours
LAST weekend in the Victorian Women’s Premier Firsts competition, there were some stellar performances right across the competition. From a Ringwood centurion to a five-wicket haul for Dandenong, take a look at who the best players were from Round 8 of the competition.
1. Paris Bowdler (Prahran) (Wicketkeeper)
Bowdler was a star with the bat on the weekend of the True Blues, playing her part in a 103 run opening stance. In the end her personal total was 62 runs.
2. Bhavisha Devchand (Ringwood)
Devchand returned to her season best form on the weekend, scoring 116 to help her side post a huge total against Melbourne. It was ultimately not enough though as Ringwood did not get the chocolates.
3. Rhys McKenna (Prahran)
McKenna was also on fire with the bat against Box Hill, and was the other half of Prahran’s excellent 103 run opening partnership. Much like opening partner Bowdler, McKenna also made 62 runs.
4. Amy Vine (Melbourne)
As Melbourne delt with one of the biggest challenges they have faced this season, Amy Vine stood up to the task and belted 73 to help guide the Dees home.
5. Una Raymond-Hoey (Ringwood)
Raymond-Hoey continued her great form from this season, scoring 64 runs and working well with Devchand to help Ringwood post a very competitive score.
6. Anna O’Donnell (Melbourne)
O’Donnell was an absolute star with the ball on the weekend for Melbourne. She took 5/36 off just under 10 overs to help restrict Ringwood to a score that although was big, could have been even harder to reach.
7. Chelsea Moscript (Dandenong)
The Dandenong veteran had a fine display of bowling on the weekend as her side smashed Plenty Valley. She took 3/9 off five overs, which included two maidens.
8. Samantha Bates (EMP)
As her side caused the upset of the season thus far, Bates was a star with the ball. She took 3/12 off 10 overs, which included three maidens.
9. Emma Gallagher (Dandenong)
Gallagher was another Panther who had an excellent afternoon with ball in hand. She took 3/13 off 7.1 overs, which included a maiden.
10. Sophie Day (Prahran)
Day had a great day out with the ball against Box Hill. She took 3/27 off nine overs as Prahran beat the Mustangs.
11. Adelaide Campion (Carlton)
The Carlton skipper put in quite the captain’s performance on the weekend. She took 3/29 off eight overs, which included one maiden.
