PREVIEW | 2025 U19 Women’s World Cup – Group B

THE 2025 ICC Under 19 Women’s World Cup is just around the corner, and to build up to the tournament Rookie Me Central will take a look at each of the groups in this year’s tournament and see how the teams in those groups may go.

Next up in the series, it is time to take a look at the teams in Group B – England, Ireland, Pakistan and the USA.

England

Squad: Abi Norgrove (c), Phoebe Brett, Olivia Brinsden, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Trudy Johnson, Katie Jones, Charlotte Lambert, Eve O’Neill, Davina Perrin, Jemima Spence, Charlotte Stubbs, Amuruthaa Surenkumar, Prisha Thanawala, Erin Thomas, Grace Thompson

England had a stellar tournament two years ago, making it all the way to the final where India came up trumps. Needless to say the goal for the English this time around will be to go one better, and there is no reason to suggest they will not make the pointy end of the tournament again.

However, most of the squad for this tournament did not go to the last one, so that experience is not there is time. The one returnee from that squad is Davina Perrin, but players like captain Abi Norgrove and keeper Katie Jones do have senior experience, so that will come in handy.

Ireland

Squad: Niamh MacNulty (c), Ally Boucher, Abbi Harrison, Jennifer Jackson, Rebecca Lowe, Lara McBride, Kia McCartney, Ellie McGee, Julie McNally, Lucy Neely, Freya Sargent, Millie Spence, Annabel Squires, Alice Walsh, Genevieve Morrissey

The Irish will be looking to have a much better tournament this time than they did two years ago, but the fact they are back is important for a country at Ireland’s development level.

They do have some experienced heads too, with captain Niamh MacNulty and bowlers Freya Sargent, Abbi Harrison and Jennifer Jackson all returning for their second Under 19 World Cup.

It has not been the smoothest of build-ups for the Irish, with the team forced into a late squad change. Star bowler Aimee Maguire has been temporarily suspended pending an investigation into her bowling action, replaced in the squad by allrounder Genevieve Morrissey.

Pakistan

Squad: Komal Khan (c), Zoofishan Ayyaz, Aleesa Mukhtiar, Areesha Ansari, Fatima Khan, Haniah Ahmer, Maham Anees, Mahnoor Zeb, Memoona Khalid, Minahil, Quratulain, Ravail Farhan, Shahar Bano, Tayyaba Imdad, Wasifa Hussain

The Pakistanis had a solid run last time around, but will definitely be looking to push up into the finals this time around.

However, they have a pretty new squad this time around, with Haniah Ahmer the only returnee from their 2023 squad.

This means players like captain and top order batter Komal Khan are really going to have to step up and lead from the front.

USA

Squad: Anika Reddy Kolan (c), Aditiba Chudasama, Chetna Reddy Pagydyala, Chetnaa G Prasad, Disha Dhingra, Isani Mahesh Vaghela, Lekha Hanumant Shetty, Maahi Madhavan, Nikhar Pinku Doshi, Pooja Ganesh, Pooja Shah, Ritu Priya Singh, Saanvi Immadi, Sasha Vallabhaneni, Suhani Thadani

The USA is still very much a minnow when it comes to world cricket, but the fact that a side like this is making World Cups regularly is great for the development of the sport in the country.

The Americans also have plenty of returning faces from their 2023 squad, with Anika Reddy Kolan, Pooja Ganesh, Pooja Shah, Aditiba Chudasama, Disha Dhingra, Ritu Priya Singh and Suhani Thadani all back for their second Under 19 World Cup.
