PREVIEW | 2025 U19 Women’s World Cup – Group D

THE 2025 ICC Under 19 Women’s World Cup is just around the corner, and to build-up to the tournament Rookie Me Central will take a look at each of the groups in this year’s tournament and preview how each nation may fare.

In the final part of the series, it is time to take a look at the teams in Group D – Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Scotland.

Australia

Squad: Lucy Hamilton (c) Chloe Ainsworth, Lily Bassingthwaighte, Caoimhe Bray, Ella Briscoe, Maggie Clark, Hasrat Gill, Amy Hunter, Sara Kennedy, Eleanor Larosa, Grace Lyons, Ines McKeon, Juliette Morton, Kate Pelle, Tegan Williamson

The Aussies made the semi-finals last time out, and as a powerhouse cricketing nation, will be seeking to improve on that feat this time out.

One bonus they have is that serious experience returning from the last World Cup squad. Reigning tournament leading wicket taker Maggie Clark is back for her second go at it, as is captain Lucy Hamilton, fellow bowlers Chloe Ainsworth and Eleanor Larosa, and wicketkeeper-batter Kate Pelle.

Bangladesh

Squad: Sumaiya Akter (c), Afia Ashima Era, Mst Eva, Fahomida Choya, Habiba Islam Pinky, Juairiya Ferdous, Fariya Akter, Farjana Easmin, Anisa Akter Soba, Sumaiya Akther Suborna, Nishita Akter Nishi, Lucky Khatun, Jannatul Maoua, Sadia Akter, Sadia Islam

Bangladesh had an unexpectedly strong run at the last World Cup, so will be hoping history can repeat itself.

However, it is a brand new squad compared to the 2023 campaign, so the Bangladeshis will have to start that momentum from scratch.

Sumaiya Akter will captain the side this time around, boasting senior international experience which counts for plenty at this level.

Nepal

Squad: Puja Mahato (c), Sony Pakhrin, Tirsana BK, Rachana Chaudhary, Sabitri Dhami, Krishma Gurung, Kusum Godar, Seemana KC, Anu Kadayat, Kiran Kunwar, Sneha Mahara, Jyotsnika Marasini, Sana Praveen, Riya Sharma, Alisha Yadav

Nepal is making its debut at this tournament, but as one of the minnows of the tournament and particularly this group, progressing particularly far in the tournament may prove to be a tall order.

One thing Nepal does have in their favour, though, is that captain Puja Mahato comes in with senior exposure under her belt.

Scotland

Squad: Niamh Muir (c), Amelie Baldie, Molly Barbour-Smith, Gabriella Fontenla, Lucy Forrester Smith, Pippa Kelly, Maisie Maceira, Kirsty McColl, Charlotte Nevard, Mollie Parker, Nayma Sheikh, Rosie Speedy, Pippa Sproul, Ruth McKay, Emma Walsingham

Like a couple of countries at this tournament, Scotland had a tough campaign last time out, so will be searching for plenty more wins this time around.

Luckily for the Scots they have a sizeable chunk of their squad back from last time, including captain Niamh Muir as well as Molly Barbour-Smith, Nayma Sheikh, Maisie Maceira and Emma Walsingham.
