QUEENSLAND picked up its second win over Western Australia in three days, this time downing the Warriors by 46 runs. Queensland made a whopping 4/331 from its 50 overs, before then restricting their visitors to only 9/285 from their 20 overs.

It was a sign of things to come when Queensland’s opening pair of Georgias – Redmayne and Voll – put on a 148 run opening partnership. Voll went on to top score for the entire innings, falling two runs short of a century. Redmayne went on to make 61, while later on in the innings Jess Jonassen whacked eight fours and four sixes on her way to 73 not out.

Meanwhile for Western Australia Lilly Mills was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Chloe Bartholomew and Bhavisha Devchand picked up a single wicket each.

Western Australia also got off to a stellar start to its batting innings, putting together 165 for its opening partnership. However once Chloe Piparo was dismissed, things fell apart a bit for the Western Australians.

The visitors’ second wicket partnership was 35 runs, but they then lost 7/81 to fall comfortably short of the margin.

Piparo was by far the best of the Western Australian batters, smacking 16 fours and a six on her way to 104. Maddy Darke also had a solid day at the crease, scoring 67.

Meanwhile for Queensland the wicket taking duties were shared around, with all bar two bowlers used picking up at least one wicket. Nicola Hancock was the pick of the bunch was three wickets to her name, while Jonassen and Sianna Ginger taking two each.

Both of these sides now have a break for the Women’s Big Bash League. Queensland return to action in December when it has a road trip to play the ACT, while the Western Australians are not back until January when they host the NSW Breakers.
