AFTER an enthralling Constellation Cup series, international netball is set to continue in Australia in 2022 as the English Roses come to town. The 2022 Australian Diamonds vs English Roses test series gets underway tonight, in what is set to be an enthralling series.

Both teams are coming off solid series wins against New Zealand and Uganda respectively, so both nations will be confident heading into this series.

Last time these two teams met was back in the semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, and after they lost on home soil, the English will no doubt be keen for some revenge this time around.

Both Australia and England have made a number of pre planned changes from their most recent series against New Zealand and Uganda respectively.

The Aussies have made five changes to the squad that recently defeated New Zealand. Sunday Aryang has come out of the squad, replaced by Jo Weston. This change was always going to happen but was forced early halfway through the Constellation Cup due to Aryang’s injury.

Gretel Bueta was also previously meant to play this series, but can no longer due to pregnancy, and was replaced by Sophie Dwyer. The other three ins are Donnell Wallam, Maddy Turner and Paige Hadley, who replace Ruby Bakewell-Doran, Liz Watson and Steph Wood.

With both Watson and Wood not playing this series, the Aussies have a new look leadership combination for the series. Hadley has been named skipper, with Courtney Bruce to serve as her deputy.

Meanwhile England have also made quite a number of changes to the squad that clean swept Uganda in their recent series. Jade Clarke, Beth Cobden, Layla Guscoth, Jo Harten, Helen Housby, Geva Mentor and Natalie Metcalf all come into the squad. They replace Zara Everitt, Natalie Panagarry, Natasha Pavelin, Chelsea Pitman, Ellie Rattu and Paige Reed.
