YESTERDAY saw the final round robin games of the 2023 Men’s Netball Nations Series, with final ladder places determined ahead of one last day of finals today.
In the opening game, New Zealand took the early lead against Hong Kong and never looked back, going on to win fairly comfortably.
The middle game of the day was however a lot closer. Malaysia got so close to picking up their second win of the tournament, but hosts Singapore proved to be too strong and held on for the narrow win.
In game three of the day the tournament front runners Australia continued to flex its muscles, restricting England to one of its lowest scores of the week thus far and keeping the Aussies’ own undefeated record in tact.
Now that the round robin games have come to an end, all that stands between these teams and their flights home is one last day of finals.
First up is the battle for fifth between Malaysia and England. Malaysia won the corresponding round robin game by 10 goals, but can the English flip the script today?
In the battle for bronze it is hosts Singapore taking on Hong Kong. When these two met on Thursday Singapore only won by three goals so it will be interesting to see if Hong Kong can turn it around.
In the battle for gold it is a good old fashioned Trans-Tasman battle as the Aussies take on the Kiwis. New Zealand will certainly be hoping history does not repeat itself as they lost to the Aussies by 40 goals back on day one.
