England and Jamaica name squads for upcoming series

IT HAS been a big few days for squad announcements, with both England and Jamaica announcing key squads for upcoming series.

England has announced its squads for both the series against Jamaica and the Fast 5 World Series in New Zealand.

For the Jamaica series, there is no change to the squad that toured Australia and New Zealand. Eleanor Cardwell and Natalie Metcalf are still out, while Jasmine Brown was also unavailable for selection because of injury.

Meanwhile for the Fast 5 tournament, youth is the flavour of the squad.

The most experienced head in the squad is probably Jayda Pechova, with Zara Everitt, Sophie Kelly and Tash Pavelin all also likely to take key leadership roles.

Meanwhile for Jamaica there will be plenty of familiar faces in its squad when it takes on England. Led by Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard, Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, Shanice Beckford and Latanya Wilson are just some of the big names in this squad. One big name missing though is Shimona Jok, with no word given as to why she was not named.

One of the new faces in the squad though is Rhea Dixon, who has been named in a Jamaican senior squad after previously playing for England Under 21s and for Jamaica in last year’s Fast 5.
