ANZ Premiership: Central Pulse Preview

THE Central Pulse are littered with stars across the court with the likes of former Silver Ferns captain, Katrina Rore (nee Grant) down in defence and up and coming shooter, Aaliyah Dunn steering the ship in the goal circle. The Pulse had a very impressive season in 2018, finishing first on the ladder but unable to capitalise in the grand final, falling short to the Southern Steel. They mustered up a whopping 12 wins out of a possible 15 and will be looking to keep up their dominant form in 2019.

Defensively the Pulse are quite strong with the likes of Rore, Karin Burger and Sulu Fitzpatrick pulling on the goal keeper, goal defence and wing defence bib, making them a formidable trio. On court together the three could pose a real damaging threat with their ability to hunt the high ball and intimidate shooters with their impressive leans and good timing.

In the shooting circle, Ameliaranne Ekenasio has plenty to offer with her smooth movement, impressive long bombs and good timing a real feature of her game. Though her accuracy can let her down at times, the Pulse will be looking to Ekenasio to guide them in the goal circle, credit to her experience and netball smarts. Another year in the ANZ Premiership will also pay dividends for young Ferns shooter, Dunn, who will relish more court time to help develop her netball craft and really stamp her authority on the competition. With fire power at both ends, the midcourt is also filled with some star players with pocket rocket, Whitney Souness renowned for her pin point passes, dynamism and quick feet providing plenty of excitement for Pulse fans.

18-year old, Maddy Gordon also offers plenty of excitement for the Pulse and will be a great addition to the side after being elevated to the senior side. Gordon has shown that she has plenty of talent and versatility playing both wing defence and centre, credit to her defensive pressure.

If all things go to plan the Central Pulse could once again be the team to beat with the team filled with class, precision, agility and a high netball know how.
