Australia reveals Nations Cup Squad

AFTER England revealed its squad for the Netball Nations Cup earlier this week, it is Australia’s turn today, with the Diamonds’ squad dropping this morning.

The Australians have revealed a squad of 13 athletes for the series at the end of January.

There is going to be some serious competition amongst the shooters for court time, with five of the 13 players looking to fill that role.

Among those shooters are Sophie Dwyer and Donnell Wallam, who will both be looking for some more consistent court time moving forward.

Australian Diamonds head coach Stacey Marinkovich said that she was looking forward to the challenge of coming up against the top netball nations.

“The Netball Nations Cup is a great opportunity for fans to see the Origin Australian Diamonds against various international teams and styles of netball,” Marinkovich said.

“It’s a great challenge to be able to not only test ourselves against these styles of play but to do so in front of a loud England crowd.

“We will continue to explore the depth and capability of our squad as we look to drive performance with a vision to the future.”

This series will bring a mix of new and old challenges for the Diamonds. They have never faced Uganda on the international stage before, but last faced the Roses at this year’s World Cup and the Silver Ferns at the Constellation Cup a few months ago.

The Diamonds will head into camp on January 8, before heading over to England for the tournament, which is set to take place across the weekends of 20-21 and 27-28 January.

Fans in Australia can watch every game of the Netball Nations Cup on Foxtel and Kayo.
