Both squads named for Tran Tasman Men’s Series
IT is not only female netballers who are getting excited about upcoming international series, with the Australian and New Zealand Men’s teams both naming their squads for their upcoming Trans Tasman Series later this year.
The Australians – recently officially named the Kelpies – have named a largely similar series to the one that contested this series last year.
Again led by Victorian Dylan Nexhip, there are only two players who are have not played a game for Australia before. New South Welshmen Jack Vandervelde and Victor Nikoloic – a midcourter and shooter respectively – are the two in line to make their Australian debuts. Anton Stechiwskyj and Josh Byron also return to the squad with neither playing in the 2022 series.
The quartet replace Lachlan Carter, Taylor Glassie, Daniel Cools and Dravyn Lee-Tauroa.
Meanwhile the New Zealand Squad is looking very different from the squad that toured 12 months ago.
Again led by shooter Junior Levi, Thomson Matuku, Liam Dalton, Te Matahiapo Safari Hynes, Matt McDonald, Michael Mundy and Cameron van Baarle are all included in the squad.
They replace Cam Powell, Matt Wetere, Tim Apisai, Dan Rich, Dan Jefferies, Deepak Patu, Junior Tana and Kruze Tangira.
The Aussies and New Zealanders are set to square off in a three match series, which are all set to be played ahead of the Constellation Cup matches in Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
