East Coast bonanza in Round 6 of Super Netball

THE 2022 Suncorp Super Netball competition never rests, and another entertaining round of action is here with Round 6 of the competition set to take place.

NSW Swifts vs Sunshine Coast Lightning
Saturday at 5pm local time
Ken Rosewall Arena

A match that has the potential to be an entertaining clash, and go either way.

The Swifts return home after a tough loss last weekend against the Fever. They stuck with the ladder leaders for much of the match, but sloppy passing and missed shots at crucial times meant that they could not get the win.

The Lightning on the other hand caused one of the upsets of the season when they accounted for the Vixens on home soil. Their defensive pressure meant that the Vixens were uncharacteristically sloppy with their passes and very off their game.

Melbourne Vixens vs Adelaide Thunderbirds
Saturday at 7pm local time
John Cain Arena

Both of these sides will be very keen to bounce back from poor performances last weekend that resulted in disappointing losses. Especially the Vixens, who are back at home in front of a vocal home crowd.

One thing that really let both of these sides down last week was their passing moving forward. Wayward passes under pressure meant that it was never going to be easy to overpower their opponents.

The two players who will be the ones to watch in this match are Shamera Sterling and Kiera Austin. Both had great games last weekend and will be keen to continue that in this clash.

Queensland Firebirds vs Collingwood Magpies
Sunday at 2pm local time
Nissan Arena

The big question ahead of this clash will be how do the Magpies respond from their poor performance last weekend. They were really missing the experience of the likes of Geva Mentor who they should get back this weekend, but it has already been proven so far this season that it can take a while to build momentum back up after a Covid outbreak.

Queensland on the other hand, had a solid win against the Adelaide Thunderbirds, and really capitalised on the poor passing from the Thunderbirds as they went into attack.

The Firebirds will be keen to keep this winning momentum going. They have strung together two wins in a row, so will be keen to add a third to the tally.

GIANTS Netball vs West Coast Fever
Sunday at 4pm local time
Ken Rosewall Arena

The clash could go one of a few different ways.

The GIANTS are coming off a good win against Collingwood, and will be keen to keep that winning momentum going after a disrupted season. They come up against a West Coast Fever side that is one of the most dominant in the competition thus far this season and is an ominous task.

One thing the GIANTS will have to do to have any hope of winning is limit the influence of the partnership of Sasha Glasgow and Jhaniele Fowler. Although Fowler shoots most of the goals, Glasgow is a dangerous feeder into the circle, and will need to be kept quiet.
