Emotion aplenty in final chapter of NSL regular season
IT was an emotion charged final round of the 2024 Netball Super League season as some teams saw the end of their time in the league, some saw just their season finish while others warmed up for next weekend’s semi finals.
Londoners cannot be split
It was an enthralling all London clash between the Mavericks and the Pulse as the match ended in a 54 goal all draw.
The lead was pretty tight right throughout the match, but after being behind at three quarter time the Mavericks fought back in the last term to earn the draw.
Storm’s positive swansong
Surrey Storm finished their time in the league on a high, downing fellow departing side the Sirens by seven goals.
The Storm jumped out of the blocks well to lead by 10 at the main break, and built on that lead in the next two quarters so when the Sirens fought back in the last quarter it was too little too late for the home side.
Lightning book home final
The Loughborough Lightning booked a home semi final for next weekend after comfortably defeating the Severn Stars.
It was only three goals the difference at quarter time, but the Lightning shot 21 goals to nine in the second quarter to really blow open the game.
Dragons burn Bath
The Cardiff Dragons ended their season in a positive way, comprehensively beating Team Bath by 17 goals in their final match in the competition.
The first two quarters were the particularly telling ones, with the Dragons winning them by nine and 10 goals respectively.
Thunder shock Rhinos
Manchester Thunder sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition ahead of the finals, thrashing the Rhinos by 36 goals.
Although the Thunder comfortably won both the first and second quarters, the third quarter was the one that really blew the game open, with the Thunder winning it 22 goals to eight.
