A product of the Netball Victoria pathway, developing goal keeper Rudi Ellis has headed to the West Coast Fever for 2022 after two years with the Queensland Firebirds. A tenacious defender with magnets in her fingertips, Ellis is a hunter and will do whatever she can to find the loose ball. Ellis should settle in nicely in the green, contributing to their back-end explosiveness, and she will be looking to step up in a greater capacity despite heading into a fairly cohesive defensive unit.
With a long reach to create hands-over pressure and block vision, Ellis has the ability to wreak havoc with her ball-winning ways, utilising her great timing to disrupt play and propel the ball back down the court. Something she brings to the Fever table is her great vision and anticipation, able to adjust her positioning to assist her fellow defender and work in tandem with her goal defence and wing defence to take advantage of the turnover ball. While the lanky goal keeper has not had a heap of consistent court time week in and week out heading into 2022, she has a real opportunity for development with the Fever, learning off the likes of Courtney Bruce, and has nothing to lose by making the switch from the east coast to the west.
