AFTER part one of the series yesterday, now it is time for part two of the prediction series for the first choice starting sevens for Suncorp Super Netball 2025.
Melbourne Vixens
GS: Sophie Garbin
GA: Kiera Austin
WA: Hannah Mundy
C: Kate Moloney
WD: Kate Eddy
GD: Jo Weston
GK: Rudi Ellis
Interchange: Emily Mannix, Lily Graham and Zara Walters
Explanation
One thing that has characterised the Vixens for a number of years is the lack of change around their starting line up.
The one potential uncertainty around the starting seven surrounds Emily Mannix. Now she has not officially been ruled out of the season yet because of her pregnancy but if she does play she will be the one to partner Jo Weston in the defence circle over Rudi Ellis.
NSW Swifts
GS: Grace Nweke
GA: Helen Housby
WA: Paige Hadley
C: Verity Simmons
WD: Allie Smith
GD: Maddy Turner
GK: Sarah Klau
Interchange: Sophie Fawns, Teigan O’Shannassy and Sharni Lambden
Explanation
The Swifts are an intriguing side heading into season 2025. There has been some big chances to key positions, which could change up their fortunes and get them back to the highs of making the grand final they reached a few years ago.
The midcourt is the area of most interest for the Swifts. Verity Simmons is a massive inclusion, but she is replacing an equally as big out in Maddy Proud. Exactly which way she will partner Paige Hadley in that midcourt and how fellow new face Sharni Lambden fits into it all remains to be seen.
Sunshine Coast Lightning
GS: Cara Koenen
GA: Steph Fretwell
WA: Mahalia Cassidy
C: Liz Watson
WD: Ava Black
GD: Ash Ervin
GK: Courtney Bruce
Interchange: Reilley Batcheldor, Tara Hinchliffe and Leesa Mi Mi
Explanation
After a massive offseason this time last year, stability is not the enemy of the Lightning this preseason. 2024 was a big year of improvement for the Lightning, and with a fully fit 10 and a number of easily interchangeable combinations at Belinda Reynolds’ disposal, there is no reason to suggest it will not be another competitive year again in 2025.
West Coast Fever
GS: Mwai Kumwenda
GA: Shanice Beckford
WA: Alice Teague-Neeld
C: Jessica Anstiss
WD: Sunday Aryang
GD: Fran Williams
GK: Kadie-Ann Dehaney
Interchange: Olivia Wilkinson, Ruth Aryang and Jordan Cransberg
Explanation
The Fever are another side in an intriguing position heading into this season.
They have copped a massive out in Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard, and as much as she is near impossible to replace, the Fever did pretty well in their attempt to do so by getting fellow experienced international in Mwai Kumwenda.
Ultimately in the end, with the way coach Dan Ryan approaches his game day tactics, seniority and experience is likely to be a big factor when choosing an ideal starting seven.
