PREVIEW | 2024 Suncorp Super Netball – Round 14

IT is the final round of the Suncorp Super Netball season, and yet there is still so much to play for even at this point in the season.

SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL

MATCH OF THE ROUND

Adelaide Thunderbirds vs. Sunshine Coast Lightning
Sunday at 4pm
Adelaide Entertainment Centre

This clash could be one almighty finish to the regular season, or a complete dead rubber.

This clash does have a lot riding on it for both sides involved, but thanks to the luck of the draw it is also the final match of the weekend, so its importance could significantly dimmish if other matches go in certain ways.

For the Adelaide Thunderbirds, it is a battle for top spot. With percentage on their side, a win may simply be all they need to come away with the minor premiership.

For the Lightning, their entire season is on the line. If the Mavericks win the day before, the Lightning must win in order to play finals.

Last time these two sides met, it was an absolute nail-biter.

The Lightning started slowly, but fought back in particularly the second half to send the match into extra time. However, the Thunderbirds proved too strong in extra time to come away four-goal winners.

The Lightning attack end is sure to provide quite the entertaining battle.

It will see two international shooters in Steph Fretwell and Cara Koenen and a international level midcourt star in Liz Watson have to combat three international level defenders in Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, Matilda Garrett and Latanya Wilson. The Lightning will need to be careful how they feed Koenen and Fretwell, and under no circumstances can they go the aerial route as they will get picked off far too easily.
