JUST as the ANZ Premiership season was starting to settle into a rhythm, Round 7 came along and spiced proceedings up in the run home to finals.

WBOP wave some magic to end Pulse undefeated run

The Central Pulse are no longer undefeated after being outclassed by the Magic. The Magic jumped out to a five-goal lead early, but did not really assert their dominance until the third term, which they won 12 goals to five.

It was a game for the defenders. Erena Mikaere picked up a whopping nine gains for Magic, while Georgia Takarangi picked up five and Georgie Edgecombe picked up four. Meanwhile for the Pulse, Kelly Jackson and Parris Mason both picked up a whopping six gains each.

Steel cause shock upset

The Southern Steel have picked up their second win of the season after defeating the Mystics by four goals.

It was the Mystics who took a narrow lead into quarter time, but a 13 goals to nine second term from the Steel flipped the script, and they extended that lead in the third term. The Mystics did fight back in the last term but not enough to reel in the deficit.

Kate Heffernan was a workhorse in mid court for the Steel, while Taneisha Fifita had a strong game in defence. Carys Stythe finished with seven gains for the Mystics, while Elisapeta Toeava racked up the feeds and assists.

Tactix survive nail-biter to take top spot

The Canterbury Tactix have moved to top of the table after a one-goal win over the Stars.

The lead changed several times during the match, but with a few minutes left in the match the Tactix held a four goal lead but the Stars fought back hard and scored the last three goals of the match but still fell agonisingly short.

Ellie Bird only missed two shots all night for the Tactix, while Karin Burger also had a strong game in defence. Meanwhile for the Stars, Mila Reuelu-Buchanan had a really strong game in midcourt while Maia Wilson also impressed.
