VIC M-League 2019: Men’s Premier Division preview – Round 2

WITH Round 1 of the Victorians Men’s and Mixed League out of the way, a number of interesting matches are sure to take place on Wednesday evening with teams close to settling their line-ups. Four teams will be hoping for their first win of the season with only two of the top sides facing off against another in the top four, meaning a number of ladder changes could take place even at this early stage of the season.

VIC M-League 2019
Men’s Premier Division – Round 2
4/9/19
8:20pm

Plenty of big matches are expected in Round 2, with Pasifika Sharks who were challenged last week by Sirens Netball taking on the Ariels at the bottom of the ladder. In other matches, DDNA are tasked with a hard match against last year’s premiers and current top of the ladder Geelong Cougars, while Southern Seahawks take on Sirens Netball in a battle of fifth and sixth.

The most interesting battle of the lot will likely be between second and third on the ladder, with St Therese facing off against Melbourne City Blackhawks. While St Therese have some real talent with the likes of brothers Cory and Dylan Nexhip at opposing ends of the court they are still a new team to the competition so are still working through their connections on court. The Blackhawks have both experience and game smarts on court, with Suncorp Super Netball umpires Tim Marshall and James ‘Bobby’ Matthews able to have an impact. Meanwhile, the midcourt battle will be big, with the speedy and experienced Matt Doyle (Blackhawks) and Riley Richardson (St Therese) likely to take the other on, while Saints’ Guy Keane can use his experience to settle the play. With talent all around the court this match is certain to showcase these big lineups, making for a massive contest.

Geelong Cougars v. DDNA
Pasifika Sharks v. Ariels
Southern Seahawks v. Sirens Netball
St Therese v. Melbourne City Blackhawks
