VIC M-League 2021/22: Men’s Premier Division wrap – Round 2

ROUND Two of the Men’s Premier Division of the Victorian Men’s and Mixed Association (VMMNA)’s M-League saw a wide range of results, with some teams asserting their dominance on the competition even this early on in the season. The Ariels had their first match of the season after the bye last week, while the Netblacks had the round off.

The game of the round saw the Sirens and DDNA play out a 43-goal all draw.

DDNA got the better start, taking a four-goal lead (16-12) into the opening break. An even contribution from DDNA goalers Ethan Spiteri and Brayden Pastore saw them each shoot half of the team’s goals.

In the second quarter things began to tighten between the sides as a 10-goal to seven second term from the Sirens saw them reduce DDNA’s lead to only one heading into half time.

The Sirens continued their momentum in the third term and took the lead off DDNA, but by the time the final change the margin was a mere three goals the way of the Sirens, and the game was still anyone’s for the taking.

DDNA actually won the final term, but only shot three more goals than the Sirens did to see the finals result end up as a draw.

Jake Dambrauskas starred in defence for DDNA, as did Pastore up in the attack. On the other side of the equation Brodie Roberts was among the best for the Sirens, shooting 11 goals and playmaking well to Josh Smith who shone with 32 goals to his name.

In other results, the Seahawks continued their great start to the season, earning a 13-goal win over the Ariels, while St Therese thrashed the City Heat 72-37.

Seahawks 57 defeated Ariels 43
