2020 WTA Madrid Open fantasy tennis: Kvitova wins fourth Madrid title

PETRA Kvitova has done it again, beating Elina Svitolina for the Madrid Open fantasy tennis title and adding a fourth Madrid trophy to her collection. The two hour long match saw the duo go head to head for the second time in as many weeks, with the Czech talent getting the goods this time around and putting a stop to Svitolina’s winning streak.

It wasn’t one of Kvitova’s best games on clay, making this an even more monumental win as Svitolina left everything out on the court. Svitolina got off to a strong start, winning the first set and dominating for much of the first half of the match with her fighting attitude. But where the Ukrainian was strong early, Kvitova proved why she is so highly rated, coming from behind in the second to begin her ascendancy, never one to give up. The left-hander made up for her slow start in spades, putting on a show to go from 2-4 down in the second to win 6-4, coming into the third set with all the momentum and attacking power. A closer final set saw the pair trade blows for much of the games, neither willing to back down, though it was Kvitova who managed to break Svitolina’s serve and take home the silverware, winning 3-6 6-4 6-4.

FINAL RESULTS:

[12] Petra Kvitova (CZE) defeated [3] Elina Svitolina (UKR) 3-6 6-4 6-4
