BURNING QUESTION?

Is Great Britain capable of winning its second title in 88 years?

For the first time in some time, Great Britain has a genuine chance at the Davis Cup title. The 2015 winners – who had not previously won since 1936 – have US Open semi-finalist Draper alongside the rock solid pairing of Norrie and Evans. Though a few other nations might have that bit more top-end talent, the Brits should get through the group stage comfortably at home in Manchester with the doubles pairing of Salisbury and Skupski very strong.

PREDICTION:

Great Britain is the obvious one to advance considering the home court advantage and depth. Canada’s one-two punch of Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov threatens to be the strongest if they are at their best and fit, but it is a huge ‘if’. Argentina is the lowest ranked nation at the Davis Cup Finals, but is not completely out of it, though will need to catch one of the other two on a bad day. Finland without Emil Ruusuvuori will struggle though have been giant-killers of late.
