ONE-SIDED affairs were the story of the first of three Division Two Under 18 rounds.

Both home teams Northern Territory and NSW/ACT pulled off big wins setting up a tantalising game this Saturday at Blundstone Arena.

The Division Two championships kicked off on Friday night under lights at TIO Stadium in the Northern Territory.

A young Tasmanian outfit travelled to NT, with 12 out of the 23 players under the age of 17 including two Under 16 players.

Northern Territory flew out of the blocks in the first quarter kicking six goals to three and continued to pile them on- running out winners by 69-points.

AFL Academy member Brandon Parfitt was best afield, collecting 25 disposals for NT in the sweltering 30 degree heat.

Jamie Hampton too was strong off Half Back using his run and carry to propel the ball forward for NT.

The ruck battle on the night was impressive with Tasmanian Under 16 Tim Auckland having a good dual against Tony Olango.

Auckland was Tasmania’s best competing well at the stoppages while Olango showed promising signs after making the move from soccer two years back, kicking two goals and working hard in the ruck around the ground.

Forwards Mathew Bricknell and Ezekiel Frank both were the leading goal kickers for the night with three apiece, while Connor Smith was the only multiple goal kicker for the Mariners with two.

In the other Division Two clash, a classy display from Kobe Mutch ensured the NSW/ACT Rams would collect an opening 47-point win over Queensland at Blacktown on Sunday.

Mutch collected a match high 31 disposals and was instrumental in the Rams win using his kick on either foot to perfection.

Tall forward Todd Marshall also continued his strong TAC Cup form into the championships booting four goals, while his Murray Bushrangers team mate Max Lynch performed strongly in the ruck.

2017 draft prospect Charlie Spargo kicked three goals, spending most of the afternoon inside 50.

The wet weather ensured the match would see just the 10 goals kicked in the first half and NSW/ACT leading by seven points, before the rain ceased in time to see the Rams pile on seven goals to two in the final quarter to collect the victory.

Midfielder Harry Perryman once again was prominent with 17 disposals and eight clearances in the centre for the Rams.

For Queensland, Gold Coast academy members Jack Bowes (21 disposals, 0ne goal) and Brad Scheer (18 disposals, seven tackles and two goals) were in the best but the Rams’ deep midfield proved too much for Queensland.

The four teams are off to Tasmania, where the two undefeated teams Northern Territory and NSW/ACT will clash before Queensland take on Tasmania.
