Player of the Week: TAC Cup Girls – Round 2
PICKING just one player across the second round of TAC Cup Girls action for the AFL Draft Central Player of the Week was a difficult task. Between our scouts we discussed an number of possible candidates across the six games, but the final decision came down to influence and impact on the game and as tough as it was, Eastern Ranges’ defender Georgia Macpherson was chosen as the round two Player of the Week.
#37 Georgia Macpherson (Eastern Ranges)
While statistics were not kept for the TAC Cup Girls competition, a conservative figure would have seen her collect more than 25 disposals and 15 marks in a dominant display off half-back against the Dandenong Stingrays. Her first half in particular was sensational, rebounding everything that came in her vicinity, and when she was not in the best position, she worked herself into the best position.
Macpherson has a trademark intercept mark on the run and did not break stride when going forward. She backs herself when coming off half-back and is accurate by foot with a penetrating kick. Macpherson also pushes up the ground to help with her side’s forward press when required and is smart and composed under pressure. She starred in round one with a top performance, but took her efforts to another level in round two, which is why she has earned the title of TAC Cup Girls’ AFL Draft Central Player of the Week.
