Player of the Week: TAC Cup Girls – Round 6
THERE were plenty of deserving nominees for our Player of the Week in the TAC Cup Girls competition. For the first time this season, the best player on a losing side was selected, with Calder Cannons captain Madison Prespakis named as this week’s AFL Draft Central TAC Cup Girls’ Player of the Week.
Prespakis has been a leading talent in this year’s AFLW Academy and overall 2018 draft crop, and after an unsurprisingly consistent season, she was a star in the tight nine-point loss to the Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels on the weekend. She booted a goal and was everywhere, desperate to haul her team across the line. Her efforts in the defeat were recognised by her successful Player of the Week nomination for round six.
Scouting notes vs. GWV Rebels:
#3 Madison Prespakis
Prespakis was outstanding, and the best player on the field in a losing side. Had nearly a page of notes on her alone, with “LITERALLY EVERYWHERE” written in capital letters at the bottom of the page. This written after she won the clearance, and had a shot at goal at one end, and then moments later was taking an important mark for her side in defence. Was important for her side at stoppages, using her strength and nous to win clearance after clearance. The complete package and standout player on the day.
