BIG wins for Clarence and Launceston headlined the round of footy in the Tasmanian State League (TSL) Women’s. With only two rounds to go, Glenorchy has secured its spot at the top of the ladder despite having the bye this week.

Clarence started this game slowly with only three goals in the first half, but Burnie started even slower, not scoring until the third quarter of the game. After this, the Roos kicked into gear, kicking nine goals in the second half to Burnie’s one major. Keeghan Smith booted home three majors for the winners while Jacinta Limbrick, Natalie Heggie and Hannah Scott all contributed as well with two goals. Burnie’s only goal came from Isabella Henwood. But the signs weren’t all bad for the Dockers, with Tasmania Under 18 state representatives, Chloe Haines, Libby Haines and Lauren Stevenson being the best three players of the game. For Clarence, Sophie Pennicott, Grace Mitchell, Jenna Farrow, Bella Goward, Darcy Elliston and Rachel Archer performed well for their side in the 68-point win.

Launceston dominated this match, not allowing the Tigers to kick a goal for the day. Instead, Carlton AFLW rookie, Courtney Webb (three), Abbey Green (two), Mikayla Binns and Georgia Hill piled on the majors for the winning side. Webb, Green and Binns were subsequently named in the best after complementing their solid performances with goals. Dearne Taylor and Angela Dickson also played good games for Launceston in their side’s big win. For the Tigers, Marla Neal, Cara Brooke, Olivia McGow, Hannah Squires, Jessica Murphy and Milly Smith all impressed.
