Draft Central Player of the Week: NAB League Boys – Round 2
IN a round with plenty of high possession winners, Eastern Ranges’ Mitch Mellis has earned the nomination for Draft Central Player of the Week for Round 2 in the NAB League Boys. Mellis won the Facebook poll against Sydney Swans Academy player, Errol Gulden who had an equally impressive game over the weekend. Mellis joins Oakleigh Chargers’ Noah Anderson as nominees so far this season, after his impressive performance through the midfield and up forward in the Ranges’ win over Western Jets at Trevor Barker Oval on Sunday.
Mellis collected 35 disposals, four marks, one tackle, five inside 50s, one rebound, and booted three goals in the win, and was among Eastern’s standouts on the day. After producing an impressive bottom-age year as a midfielder last year which saw Mellis take home the Pennington Medal – Eastern’s best and fairest – he has settled in the forward half, while having the ability to go into the middle and have an impact. He has no trouble finding the ball as shown from his performance on the weekend.
DRAFT CENTRAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
ROUND 1: Noah Anderson (Oakleigh Chargers)
ROUND 2: MITCH MELLIS (EASTERN RANGES)
