IN the annual WA Foundation Day fixture, South Fremantle won bragging rights over arch-rivals East Fremantle with a 17-point victory in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) Colts competition.

Below were the stand-out players.

East Fremantle:

#2 Michael Wright

The Chapman Valley product was again sensational in the midfield for the Sharks. Against the Bulldogs, Wright accumulated a team-high 27 possessions, recorded six inside 50s, took four marks and laid two tackles.

#5 Edward Curley

The 2018 WA U16 State Academy member showcased why he is so highly touted for next year’s AFL Draft. Against the Bulldogs, Curley put forward his best game with 26 possessions, five tackles, four marks and three inside 50s.

#8 Owen Dann

Another bottom-aged prospect, Dann demonstrated why he is one of the best small forwards for next year’s AFL Draft. In the forward half for the Sharks, Dann collected 18 possessions, laid 10 tackles, took six marks, and recorded three inside 50s. The only blemish on his performance was two behinds.

#9 Dylan Curley

Last year’s club leading goalkicker, Curley was dazzling in his first performance of the season for the Sharks. He booted three goals from eight possessions and also took three strong contested marks. With such performances, expect Curley’s stocks to rise.

#18 Chris Walker

The Fremantle Next-Generation Academy member was sublime on the half-back line for the Sharks, often creating attacking forays from the defensive half. He collected 13 possessions, took three marks, laid three tackles and recorded three inside 50s.

#20 Brandon Walker

The 2018 AFL U16 All-Australian showed why he is already being touted as a possible first round draft pick in next year’s AFL Draft. Against the Bulldogs, Walker gathered 21 possessions, recorded five inside 50s, took four marks and laid four tackles to be one of the best players.

#25 Jai Jackson

The stand-in captain for East Fremantle tried his heart out to inspire his team to victory, but to no avail. He finished with 24 possessions, a game-high 11 tackles, three marks and two inside 50s in a true captain’s performance.

#28 Kody Eaton

Stationed at full-back, Eaton was simply outstanding for the Sharks, trying his best to counter South Fremantle’s attacking forays. He finished with 14 possessions and three marks to be one of the most valuable players for East Fremantle.

South Fremantle:

#1 Jack Musika

The 2017 WA U16 State Academy member was influential in the forward half for the Bulldogs, highlighting his credentials as one of the best players in the competition. He accumulated 13 possessions, laid seven tackles and kicked the goal to seal victory for South Fremantle.

#4 Robbie Woods

The Bibra Lake product was electrifying in the forward half for South Fremantle, often using his pace, agility and skills to carve his way through the defensive zone. He finished with 13 possessions, five marks, four tackles, four inside 50s and a goal in a dazzling performance.

#5 Jaxon Bellchambers

An underage prospect, Bellchambers continues to produce performances to show he will be one of WA’s best prospects for next year’s AFL Draft. Against the Sharks, he gathered 25 possessions, took six marks, laid six tackles and recorded two inside 50s.

#6 Manfred Kelly

The Armadale product was prolific for the Bulldogs, finishing with a game-high 32 possessions, seven tackles, five marks and two inside 50s. His dare to take the game on, combined with his smart decision-making, make him an elite midfielder for the Bulldogs.

#7 George Wessels

The Aquinas College student continued his great start to the year for South Fremantle with another polished performance. Against the Sharks, Wessels collected 23 possessions, laid seven tackles, recorded five inside 50s and took three marks.

#27 Eric Botha

The Booragoon junior was excellent in the midfield for South Fremantle with 26 possessions, eight marks, seven inside 50s and two tackles. His stoppage work was pivotal in South Fremantle gaining ascendancy through the middle of the ground.

#31 Jacob Sax

Stationed at centre half-back, Sax was rock solid for the Bulldogs, thwarting many of East Fremantle’s attacking forays. He finished with 19 possessions and four marks to be one of South Fremantle’s most valuable players.

#35 Darryl Anderson

The 2016 WA U15s State Schoolboys’ representative was dynamic in the forward line for the Bulldogs. He finished with 13 possessions and two goals to be one of the most dangerous forwards on the ground.
