Team of the Week: NAB League Boys – Round 11
BENDIGO Pioneers and Murray Bushrangers recorded much needed wins on the weekend, and were rewarded with three players in the Draft Central NAB League Boys Team of the Week. But more historically, Round 11 marked the first time that two brothers have been named in the Team of the Week, with Jye and Kade Chalcraft named in the team together. Along with the Chalcraft brothers, Will Chandler also made the Team of the Week up forward. Bendigo’s trio of players were defender Will Wallace as well as Ben Worme and forward, Josh Treacy.
Across the board, eight other teams recorded two players each in the Team of the Week, with Dandenong Stingrays’ Bryce Milford named at full-back and Oakleigh’s Vincent Zagari beside him as their respective team’s sole representatives. Among the winning sides with two players were Gippsland Power’s Fraser Phillips – nominated for Player of the Week – and Leo Connolly, and Sandringham Dragons’ Darcy Chirgwin – winner of Player of the Week – and George Grey.
Top-of-the-table Eastern Ranges also had two representatives in the side with Lachlan Stapleton and Ben Hickleton named in the forward half, while Western Jets had a couple of defenders make the side in Lucas Rocci and Josh Kellett once again. Fellow defender, Cody Raak was unlucky to just miss out on the side. Another winning side with two players in the team was Northern Knights, as captain Jackson Davies and onballer Sam Philp made the team once again.
Geelong Falcons had a couple of fresh faces in the side with ruck Henry Walsh, and Keidan Rayner making the team, as did Tasmanian duo, Jackson Callow in attack and Oliver Davis to rotate through the middle from the bench. The remaining two in the side are Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels, Liam Herbert and Riley Polkinghorne who round out the 24-player squad for Round 11 of the competition.
