Nightcliff had a real shocker in front of goal this week, heading down the ladder into sixth thanks to this loss coupled with Pint’s solid victory. Despite a slow and even first quarter for both sides the Tigers shot themselves in the foot with only one goal to their name alongside five behinds, meaning the side is surely frustrated with that performance against ultimately a side far below them on the ladder. Full credit to St Mary’s however, with this victory coming at the perfect time for some confidence to come back into the side as we reach the midpoint of the season. For Nightcliff, Hannah Turnbull, Laura de Hommel and Emma-Lou Wolsey were consistent as ever, making an impact despite the side remaining goalless until the final term. St Mary’s were strong defensively so will be happy with that performance especially given they have knocked Tigers down a few pegs on the ladder.

Tracy Village will be frustrated by this result after some promising efforts in recent weeks, failing to put a point on the board against Pint who have slipped into fifth after sitting in seventh last round. It was Pint’s consistency that got them over the line in this battle, having plenty of attempts and creating opportunities downfield to deny Tracy Village any chance of getting into the match. Pint’s defence was impressive, denying the Razorbacks at any turn, while their midfielders were equally as impressive propelling the footy down the field to penetrate inside 50 and find the likes of Emma Greaves and Jasmin Baksh (two goals apiece) in front of goal. While Tracy Village did their best around the field they were ultimately beaten in majority of the contest, unable to find consistency to propel the footy forward.

Darwin Buffettes got back some confidence again this week after a few slow weeks on the field, putting their first win on the board since an undefeated start to the season saw the side struggle from Round 6 onwards. A massive 125-point victory has hopefully seen the Buffettes get back in the game and ultimately the competition, heading back into second place with this win. Unfortunately for Big River Hawks, this was a fairly predictable result that sees the side continue a 10-round losing streak, unable to have much impact on the field. A 10 goal second half ultimately saw Buffettes run away with it, with six multiple goalkickers providing plenty of versatility in the forward line. Calista Boyd booted four to topscore for the round while Tayla Hart-Aluni, Delsey Ah-Wang, Bianca Stokes, Demi Cubillo and Bianca Scrymgour all kicked two apiece.

Southern Districts will be happy with a victory against Wanderers this week despite the battle being closer than expected, managing a 23-point victory despite failing to boot a goal after half-time. While Wanderers will be frustrated to have let this one go after ultimately dominating defensively in the second half, the vistiros just did not have the firepower forward to apply similar pressure inside forward 50. Georgia Halkitis was impressive as ever for the Wanderers alongside Georgia Billias and Tishara Davern, using the  footy well to create opportunities down the field though the defensive pressure of the Crocs saw many of their opportunities go wasted. For the Districts, Ebony Miller once again provided the firepower in attack despite being kept relatively quiet in the second half while Brooke Hayne impressed in only her second match of the season and Grace Mulvahill kicked one goal on her way to a best on ground appearance.

The equal closest match of the round saw Waratah only just sneak away with victory against a gallant Palmerston Magpies side, with the Magpies leading at half-time before losing their lead with Waratah booting four goals to one in the third quarter to take control of the match. While Magpies denied Waratah any opportunities in front of goal in the final quarter it was not enough to come back from the two-goal buffer, with Waratah ultimately retaining top spot on the ladder. For Waratah, Molly Cooper and Rebecca Pryer were instrumental getting this win on the board while Lauren O’Shea kicked two goals, while Magpies’ Iesha Ronberg (two goals), Yasmen Roe and Arthurina Moreen impressed for the losing side.
