Stat Leaders: 2022 AFL Women’s – Round 3
PRIDE Round hit the AFL Women’s competition in Round 3, and plenty of guns across the competition marked the occasion in style. Star Fremantle midfielder Kiara Bowers was the star of the show, dominating a number of key statistical areas in her side’s win over Richmond. Plenty more players produced big numbers, find out who as we take a look at this week’s stat leaders.

Bowers’ turbo-charged performance saw her top the charts in four of the outlined areas over the weekend; disposals (28), kicks (24), tackles (16), and clearances (nine). It comes as almost no surprise either at this point, with the damaging Docker voted in as Rookie Me Central’s number one AFLW player in the preseason top 50 countdown. Her performance earned her a perfect 10 in the coaches votes, also.
While said powerhouse did much of her work in possession by foot, Mikala Cann and Madison Prespakis went about their work in a different fashion. Both racked up 13 handballs, with Cann’s ratio far greater having had 18 disposals as opposed to Prespakis’ 27.
The Blues ball magnet was not alone in this week’s stat leader list, joined by teammate Courtney Jones. Along with Blue-turned-Dee Tayla Harris, the clever forward booted three goals in the third round of competition. Jones’ haul made up 18 of Carlton’s 28 total points in a hefty loss to Brisbane on Tuesday, while Harris’ 3.2 included Melbourne’s only two first half majors.
Looking towards the airways, and Erin Phillips again imposed herself on the contest as Adelaide pulled away from West Coast after quarter time. The champion clunked eight grabs, a haul equal to teammate Stevie-Lee Thompson this week. In another aerial feat, Geelong mature-ager Olivia Fuller notched a round-high 22 hitouts in the Cats’ loss to Collingwood on Friday night.
