2022 NAB League Girls Player of the Week: Round 3

WESTERN Jets midfielder Charlotte Baskaran is the Rookie Me Central NAB League Girls Player of the Week for Round 3. The Jets skipper starred in her side’s maiden win for season 2022, a 15-point salute over the Northern Knights at Highgate Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

Baskaran beat out fellow Metro gun Jasmine Fleming in our weekly poll after gathering an equal competition record of 38 disposals, which also included five inside 50s and a goal. Her midfield craft was outstanding, showcasing a balance of class and two-way toughness as she set the tone for her side’s victory.

After two rounds of exclusively Country-based nominations, Baskaran and Fleming are the first Metro prospects to earn nods this season. The former has now notched up dual 30-plus disposal games, while the latter leads the Rookie Me Central Medal count after another best afield performance. Fleming had 29 touches, 11 tackles and seven inside 50s in Oakleigh’s win over Tasmania.

Now sitting at 1-1, Baskaran and her Jets will next travel to Ballarat to face the Greater Western Victoria Rebels, who boast a 1-2 record from their three outings. It looms as another chance to shine for the top-age star, who looks to have hit new heights early this season.
