2022 NAB League Girls Player of the Week: Round 4

EASTERN Ranges midfielder Bridget Deed is the Rookie Me Central NAB League Girls Player of the Week for Round 4. The Ranges skipper starred in her side’s third win for season 2022, a 51-point salute over the Northern Knights at Parade College on Saturday afternoon.

Following in the footsteps of last week’s winner Charlotte Baskaran, Deed was the standout performer this weekend having compiled 35 disposals, six marks, five tackles, and six inside 50s. It was her second 30-plus disposal game for 2022, after she racked up a career-high 36 touches in her side’s Round 1 win over the Calder Cannons.

After Country top-agers secured nods in the first two rounds, Deed becomes the second Metro player to earn Player of the Week honours this season, and is the first over-ager (2003-born) to do so. Her ability to not only dominate at the stoppages, but accumulate possessions around the ground and be more impactful with each disposal has been a great improvement on her terrific efforts of 2021.

Flying high at 3-0 as one of two unbeaten sides remaining, the Ranges’ next assignment is a potential danger game against reigning premiers, the Oakleigh Chargers. Having gone down to the typically strong region in last year’s preliminary final, it serves as a chance for Deed and her troops to exact revenge remain clear in the top two.
