2022 NAB League Boys Player of the Week: Round 11

GWV REBELS midfielder-defender Hamish Sinnott is our NAB League Player of the Week for Round 11. The over-ager was prolific in his side’s 14-point win over the Northern Knights on Saturday, amassing a game-high 34 disposals, nine marks, seven tackles, nine inside 50s, and the sealing goal in term four.

While Victorian state squad members strutted their stuff on the big stage this weekend, former Vic Country representative, Sinnott showcased why he earned such honours last year with another standout performance.

The versatile 186cm talent cut his teeth as a raw and lean rebound defender in 2021, but has enjoyed his time further afield upon returning to the Rebels’ program this year. Though relatively consistent, he ticked up over 20 touches for the first time in Round 9 and repeated the feat in his next outing, before taking it to another level on Saturday.

Sinnott achieved season-high numbers for disposals, kicks, handballs, marks, tackles, and inside 50s all in the one game, taking on the added responsibility with aplomb as one of GWV’s more experienced figures.

Only the second over-ager to earn a Player of the Week nod this season, Sinnott joins esteemed company in that regard – top mid-season draft pick Jai Culley. He is also just the third Country-based player to do so, and faced stiff competition this week from the likes of Gippsland Power’s Mitchell Moschetti and Tasmania’s Heath Ollington.

Currently eight overall and sixth in the Country pool at 5-3, Sinnott and the Rebels will put their feet up for a week before taking on the Sandringham Dragons at Mars Stadium on July 10. There are only five NAB League rounds remaining, with GWV set to feature in each of them.
