List changes keep coming in AFLW

THE world may be winding down towards Christmas, but AFLW clubs have not quite finished for the year yet, with many continuing to plan for 2023 and make the relevant list changes.

This update will not be going over the list changes mentioned in our first update, so click here if you missed the first update.

FREMANTLE

Ashley Sharp has decided to step away from football for the moment, but may return to the league in the future.

She sat out the last two seasons after giving birth to son Spencer, she has decided to step away from football for family reasons but has not completely retired from the league.

MELBOURNE

The reigning premiers have made the first three of their changes, but may have to make more.

Sabreena Duffy, Ella Little and Alison Brown have all not been offered contracts for 2023, with none of the three making the playing team that went on to win the flag at the end of last month.

The Dees had three players on their long term injury list this season, so depending on the list rules heading into 2023 may have to make more changes.

NORTH MELBOURNE

North Melbourne has made its first changes ahead of 2023, delisting inaugural Roo Sophie Abbatangelo and injury replacement player Grace Matser.

Abbatangelo joined the Roos ahead of their inaugural season in 2019 and went on to play 42 games, while Matser only joined the club in Season 7 as replacement for Grace Campbell who had gone onto the long term injury list.

RETIREMENTS

Along with all these delistings, a number of players have announced their retirements from the AFLW.

Alongside Kara Antonio, Courtney Wakefield, Jess Duffin and Tanya Hetherington who all retired before the end of the season, Ashlee Atkins, Krystal Scott and Brid Stack have all since announced their retirements.
