Vic Country and Metro Girls’ 2023/24 Summer hubs announced
VICTORIA’s next wave of AFL Women’s draft prospects have been named as part of the Vic Country and Vic Metro Summer training hubs. A total of 44 players – 23 for Country and 21 for Metro – have been named in the squads, with the players set to partake in high performance training camps over Summer.
The players will engage in football and wellbeing programs and be provided with individual development plans. Vic Country’s training camp will take place at The Hangar on December 18-19, with a second camp at Federation University in Ballarat from January 23-25. Vic Metro players will also head to The Hangar after their Country counterparts – from December 19-20, with the additional training camp held on the same January 23-25 weekend, but at Deakin University in Geelong.
Mel Hickey will retain her place as Vic Country coach, while Ty Vickery takes the reins as the head coach of Vic Metro. Among some of the names to keep an eye out for are Vic Country AFLW Under 18 Championships MVP Ash Centra, Under 17s Futures MVP and Carlton father-daughter Sophie McKay, Talent League best and fairest winner Sara Howley and Talent League Grand Final best on ground Sienna Tallariti.
