SEASON proper is edging ever closer for the Tasmania Devils, who underwent preseason testing in Hobart on Sunday. Top prospects in the girls squad soared atop the charts in a competitive field of results across all five events.

From a top fives perspective, Natasha Furjanic impressed across the board, winning the yo-yo with an impressive 17.06 level, as well as finishing second in the 20m sprint (3.269 seconds), third in the agility test (8.59 seconds) and equal third in the standing vertical jump (47cm).

Talented Tasmanian Sophie Strong also had a day out, winning the agility test with a blistering time of 8.505 seconds, as well as finishing third in the 20m sprint (3.275 seconds), fourth in the yo-yo test (16.05 level) and fifth in the running vertical jump (59cm).

Bottom-age young gun Priya Bowering showed off her balance of leap and agility, recording an event-high 51cm in the standing vertical jump, as well as 8.526 seconds in the agility to finish second overall behind Strong.

Other winners of the tests included Evie Bingham (running vertical leap – 62cm) and Chloe Smith (20m sprint – 3.197 seconds). Taia Lette, Eva Downie and Mischa Barwin were the other players to record top five finishes in two or more tests.
