SQUADS | Young Guns vs. Vic Country
MID-SEASON Draft hopefuls will continue to take centre stage as the Young Guns series comes to a close on Sunday morning. The squad, comprised of 2005-born prospects from the VFL and Coates Talent League, takes on Vic Country at Highgate Recreation Reserve.

The second and final game of the series comes after the Young Guns defeated Vic Metro by 42 points at Avalon Airport Oval last week. Both fixtures also serve as part of the selection process for this year’s Under 18 National Championships, where Vic Country and Metro will feature.
Players not selected in Sunday’s game will still be eligible for the final Under 18 squads, including the stars who instead will line up for the AFL Academy on Saturday. For the Young Guns, all bar one player is eligible to be taken in the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft on Wednesday May 29.
Among the more interesting selections is that of Dandenong Stingrays over-ager Jordan Doherty for Vic Country, would also have been eligible for the Young Guns. Meanwhile, recent National representative Tobie Travaglia will also line up for Vic Country with eyes on further bolstering his stocks.
The game will be streamed live via the AFL website, starting from 11:00am, with a replay set to be available early next week. Stay tuned to Rookie Me Central, where we’ll highlight some of the top performers from either side in our Scouting Notes.
