Saturday, May 11
Invermay Park @ 4:30pm

FORM:

Since a heartbreaking loss to Oakleigh in Round 1, Tasmania Devils have strung together three consecutive victories, though last week’s one-point win to Sydney Swans Academy had danger written all over it late before being able to hold on. Dandenong Stingrays sit at 2-2 from the season, with losses to the Chargers and Suns Academy, while beating Geelong Falcons and Gippsland Power in between.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Tasmania Devils:

Tasmania’s midfield has been ticking along nicely with bottom-ager Mischa Barwin supporting the lines of Priya Bowering and Harriet Bingley. Both Mackenzie Williams and Meg Harrison are capable of pushing up the ground and making an impact, while Ava Read and Josie Rose have consistently hit the scoreboard, while Lucy Thompson made a strong return last week.

Dandenong Stingrays:

Though ultimately beaten through the middle last week, the duo of Jemma Reynolds and Kate Terri worked hard all game and provided drive from the contest. Kayla Dalgleish showed a fortnight ago she can be a danger in front of goal, while Mizuki Brothwell and Ruby Geurts have rebounded from defence consistently. Evelyn Connolly and Jemaya Bressan are others to keep in mind as players who can impact forward of centre.

PREDICTION

At home and looking incredibly strong other than the last quarter a week ago, the Devils seem like every bit a challenger this year. In what is sure to be favourable conditions down on the Apple Isle, Tasmania should be able to make the most of it, though the Stingrays have quality players across each line too.
