IT is a big day in the world of AFLW, with the 2024 AFLW fixture being revealed.

As previously announced, there will be 11 matches for every team to play across a 10 week period, with all teams copping a mid week.

Week one is set to kick off on Friday August 30 with two matches on the cards, with the Swans hosting Collingwood  and Richmond venturing west to take on the Eagles.

Some clubs will finally get to play each other for the first time, for example Adelaide and Hawthorn, while others like Melbourne and Sydney will still not have met even after this season.

A couple of key matches during the season will be:

• The Showdown in Week One
• A Grand Final rematch on the opening Sunday of the season
• Pride Round in Week 7
• Indigenous Round in weeks nine and 10, which will see the annual Dream Time game played in Darwin

Much of the country that does not normally get to host top level football will host AFLW games this season, with Mackay, Cairns, Ballarat, Canberra, Darwin and Coffs Harbour all hosting matches.
