Recent form

Collingwood showed some positives last week but ultimately is still winless after three matches this season.

West Coast meanwhile is having one of its best starts to a season ever, and picked up its second win of the year over the weekend after defeating the Western Bulldogs.

Last time they met

It has been a while since these two sides have clashed, with the last meeting between the pair happening back in season six.

That particular afternoon in Perth, it was the Magpies who emerged with a four goal win after really restricting West Coast’s scoring. A four goal to one third term in Collingwood’s favour also really helped.

Key stat areas

Both teams prefer to kick the ball more than they handball it, so that will be interesting to see how that collides.

In connection to that, West Coast has been doing better in the marks department overall so far this season, but Collingwood has been better than the Eagles when it comes to contested marks.

One thing that Collingwood in particular needs to lift is its indie 50 efficiency, because not only is it one of the poorest in the competition so far this season, but it is significantly poorer than what West Coast’s has been this season.

Key match up/s

One thing that anyone could see watching West Coast’s game last Thursday was how crucial Ella Roberts is to the ball movement through midfield of the Eagles. The question for Collingwood will be how do they stop her? Do they sacrifice someone like Brianna Davey or Mikala Cann, or put one of the less experienced midfielders on her?
