Recent form

Both sides have followed a similar trajectory so far this season. After poor first-up performances, they have won their next two matches to be sitting on two wins and a loss heading into tonight.

Last time they met

A favourite match up of fixture creators, there is plenty of history between these sides.

The last time these two sides met was actually the corresponding round last season, and in a nail biter that day ultimately it was the Tigers who emerged seven point winners.

Richmond got the better of the starts before Carlton controlled the middle two quarters of the game, but ultimately the Tigers overpowered the Blues in the final term.

Key stat areas

Carlton is much more of a handballing side then a kicking one, while for Richmond it is the other way around. Interestingly, Richmond has recorded more inside 50s than Carlton, but the Blues have been significantly more efficient inside 50.

When it comes to clearances, Carlton has been significantly better when it comes to stoppage clearances, but Richmond has been doing better in the centre clearances.

Key match up/s

One element that has gone better for Richmond as it has started to bank up the wins this season is its forward line and how it has worked together.

Although Katie Brennan’s name and reputation means that she is the target of defenders, Sarah Hosking has actually been the one kicking the most goals for the Tigers this season.

It means it is going to be a big night for the likes of Harriet Cordner and Kerryn Peterson who will have a big night trying to keep the aforementioned forwards quiet.
